Although love potions are banned at Hogwarts, many students have managed to smuggle them into the school. Fred and George Weasley sell them and had them snuck into the school as perfume and cough potions. Hermione told Harry that Romilda Vane was trying to give him a love potion by spiking Gillywater and a box of Chocolate Cauldrons. Harry didn't accept them but Ron found the box of chocolate and ate half of them. Harry then took Ron to see Professor Slughorn to get an antidote, by tricking him into thinking they were going to see Romilda.
